St John's Wood Lodge No. 4806 — Centenary Year 2026 — Freemasons' Hall, Great Queen Street, London
St John's Wood Lodge No. 4806 was consecrated in 1926 and has held its meetings at Freemasons' Hall, Great Queen Street, ever since. In our Centenary year, we are prouder than ever of the warm fellowship, accomplished ritual, and genuine camaraderie that have defined this lodge for a hundred years.
We are a diverse, inclusive lodge with a wide age range — from new candidates taking their first steps in Freemasonry to experienced brethren with decades of service. Whatever your background or calling, if you bring a sense of humour and a genuine desire to contribute, you will find a home here.
We also warmly welcome experienced Masons who are looking to join a new lodge in the heart of London. Come and meet us — we think you'll understand very quickly why our Secretary often has difficulty extracting members from the bar to get them into the Temple.
More About Us

We are not the oldest lodge, nor the most formal. But we may well be the most genuine. Here is what membership of No. 4806 actually means in practice.
Our members come from every profession and background. What unites us is warmth, humour, and a genuine commitment to supporting one another through every stage of life.
Freemasonry is the UK's second-largest charitable organisation. We are proud supporters of the RMBI, the London Air Ambulance, and local charities — giving back is in our DNA.
Our ceremonies draw on centuries of allegory and symbolism. Learning and performing the ritual is one of the most rewarding aspects of membership — and we support you throughout.
2026 is our 100th year. This is a rare and remarkable moment to join a lodge — you will be part of the Centenary celebrations at Freemasons' Hall and a chapter of our history.
Our membership spans law, medicine, business, the arts and beyond. The friendships formed in the Lodge and at the Festive Board are among the most enduring you will make.
After every meeting, we dine together at CAA in Covent Garden — a three-course dinner with wine for around £56. The conversation is always excellent. The company, even more so.
Freemasonry guides its members through three progressive degrees, each a carefully crafted allegory that teaches enduring lessons about life, character and mortality.
Your journey begins here. The First Degree represents youth — it teaches the fundamental lessons of belief in the Great Architect of the Universe, the necessity of charity, and the immeasurable value of keeping one's word. As an Entered Apprentice, you step through a door that has been open for centuries.
The Second Degree represents manhood — the middle period of life. Through its ceremonies and working tools, the importance of education, honest labour, and the awe-inspiring power of the Great Architect are taught. The Fellow Craft is a Mason who is growing, building, and taking on responsibility.
The culmination of your first journey. The Third Degree teaches the most profound lessons — the importance of living with true moral integrity, confronting mortality with courage, and leaving a legacy worthy of the craft. A Master Mason carries Freemasonry's deepest teachings into the world.
The Fourth Step — the Order of the Holy Royal Arch — is available to Master Masons after four weeks. Learn more at UGLE →
Freemasonry is founded on mutual support and genuine trust. Our lodge is diverse and inclusive, and offers lasting friendship to every member — from the serious ceremonies of the Temple to the lively conversation at the Festive Board. Good men, growing better together.
Our core purpose is to encourage the highest moral standards in all aspects of life. Timeless symbols and allegories guide members toward personal improvement, accountability, and sound ethical conduct. As Masons, we strive to live with honour both inside the Lodge and in the wider community.
Charity is woven into the fabric of Freemasonry. As a lodge, we are proud supporters of the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF), the RMBI, the London Air Ambulance, and local London charities. Through fundraising and dedicated service, we are committed to making a positive impact on those around us.
